If you're not going to be snuggly up with your significant other this Valentine's Day - Game Night is a fun way to spend your evening with other friends or family who is not going to be spending this holiday with anyone either. Game night is also a great excuse just to have people over during these chilly months. I love to Game Night...My family is all about the games and some "friendly" competition.
For drinks make a Players' punch to get the evening going and for dinner serve up Crispy popcorn shrimp, mini grilled-cheese sandwiches, chicken-apple-sausage pigs in a blanket, macaroni-and-cheese cups, cruditès with avocado dip. Don't forget the dessert... Domino brownies and sugar cookies with hot chocolate...Yummy!
As for the decor, think retro casino. Put chairs at card tables or toss big, comfortable pillows around a coffee table. For each eye-catching tabletop bouquet, tightly a range red carnations in a three and one quarter inch square glass vase; then nestle that into a six-inch-square glass vase. Fill the space between the vases with dominos or checkers. Group together red pillar candles.
And for the music think Happy Hour with the Rat Pack? Come on... this is the CD of choice for any swinging get together that has a hip and urban crowd that demands the coolest. Let Sammy Davis Jr. and the boys start something up for you. You dig?
There are so many great games to choose from these days. Pictured here are some of the oldies but goodies. With our friends we always play Pictionary, Boggle, Yahtzee and one of my favorites is Cranium and with my family we always play just good ole fashioned Poker and Texas Hold 'em. So, pick a game that ALL of your guests will enjoy. Some people are very uncomfortable playing games where you have to act things out like Charades. My friend, Jenny will only play Boggle with us (I secretly think it's because no one can beat her and she hates to lose). No matter what Have Fun since that is the objective of the evening.
