To throw a successful Cinco de Mayo celebration there are two things you must have before you can really get the party started. The first is an understanding of what Cinco de Mayo is and the second is music & entertainment!
For those of you who don’t really know why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo here is the History 101 for this festive holiday. Many people think it is Mexico’s independence day but this is not true, Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the overthrow of the French occupation forces in 1867. Viva Mexico! Arriba, Arriba!
During a traditional Cinco de Mayo party music plays a very important role. Dancing and food are also popular attractions but the one that seems to really set the mood best is the music, specifically… mariachis. I think if you ask most people what comes to mind when they think of any traditional Mexican celebration they will definitely say mariachis along with margaritas! I have to confess that we had a huge Cinco de Mayo party last year and we hired mariachis and they were just too fun. Traditional Mexican music is some of the most beautiful and heartfelt music. It overflows with emotion. Guests will not only feel like they just walked off the plane and into Mexico but will surely be ready to dance the night away to the cucaracha and salsas. Adios mis amigos!
