Ok so in honor of Spain winning the World Cup I thought it only appropriate to host a tapas party. My husband's family is from Spain so we love to invite friends over for tapas anyway. I think I love any meal that involves sharing food. Everytime we have a tapas party it always seems to create such spirited conversation especially when the wine is flowing and plates are circling the room—or guests are circling the table. Forks and wine glasses in hand there is something about sharing food that always seems to make for such a fun time. A good Spanish party invites you to revel in the good life and surrender to the senses. No wonder we look to Spain when we’re ready to celebrate!
So call a few friends over share in the warmth and camaraderie of a Spanish party. Let's be honest who would turn down an evening of good wine, good conversation and great food?!?! All you have to do is create some Spanish-style ambiance, open up a few bottles of red wine (from Spain of course) and watch your friends swoon over delectable tapas—all from your own kitchen. Whether you are planning a small gathering or a full-scale fiesta, these party essentials will guarantee that everyone in your home is living life to the fullest, Spanish-style.
Stock up on small plates, runners, napkins and candles in warm Spanish colors like red and yellow. And, of course, no Spanish party would be a fiesta without music. Search iTunes for popular music from Spain to entertain your guests.
When choosing your tapas menu, consider your guests and choose several different types of plates so guests can get a taste of a variety of Spanish plates (my favorite is the Spanish Tortilla...Yum!). The great thing about tapas is that you will inevitably create a colorful meal that’s bound to impress. Select from a variety of tapas recipes - you can find plenty of yummy ideas just by googling Spanish tapas. If you don't have it in you to cook but still want to host a party then call your local Spanish restaurant and pick-up several of their favorite dishes - either way you can't go wrong and it will be a night to remember.
Make sure you have enough wine to keep the conversation lively and the tapas plates moving. At a tapas party food is eaten communally, so make sure your guests are armed with forks and ready to share.
