The kids are back in school so you will probably need an excuse to get out of the house soon and I have the perfect reason...A Book Club. If you love books this is a great way to indulge yourself and engage in lively conversations with friends.
Start by organizing your group; 8 - 10 is the perfect number. Don't just pick friends from your immediate circle; invite friends of acquaintances or friends of friends. Plan to meet once a month for about an hour and half. Meet at a local coffee shop, wine bar or a home.
Choose your first book. Don't pick a book that is too long or difficult. Start with a fun, quick read. You want to ensure that everyone will be able to participate and you definitely don't want to burden anyone with a homework assinment (Remember this is supposed to be fun).
Serve foods inspired by the theme of the book you choose. Arrange furniture for conversation. Let people catch-up and chat for the first 30 minutes and then slip into book talk. Enjoy! I love to read and a book club gives me an excuse to finally be able to read that book I have been dying to pick-up.
Love the idea, wish I had time to read a book...
