The Oscars are this Sunday so whether you are hosting a party or just staying in to watch the award show I hope you enjoy a few of these 2011 Oscar Inspired Cocktail Recipes.
Black Swan: White Lady/The BlackoutIn the film Black Swan, ballet dancer Nina (Natalie Portman) leads a double life when she delves into the characters of the White and Black Swans in Swan Lake. Our cocktail portrayal of the film features a White Lady, made with gin, lemon juice and Cointreau, and The Blackout, made with tea leaves, amaretto and rum. Drink up!
White Lady
1 1/2 oz gin
1 ounce Cointreau
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
The Blackout
Spiced Sugar (see recipe below), for rimming glass
3/4 ounce Grand Marnier
1/2 ounce 151 proof rum
1/2 ounce white creme de cacao
3 ounces hot Leaves de Provence tea or another floral tea Lightly whipped and sweetened heavy cream 3/4 ounce amaretto
Coat the rim of a thick wineglass with the sugar and add the rum. Using a lighter, ignite the rum. Twirl the glass to caramelize the sugar, making sure you keep the glass upright, so that no burning liquid reaches the floor. When the sugar is caramelized, put the fire out by pouring tea into the glass, and add the amaretto, Grand Marnier, and crème de cocao.
Top with the whipped cream.
Spiced Sugar
1 cup superfine sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground clove
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice (optional)
Stir together all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.

Winter's Bone: Corpse Reviver No. 2Ree (Jennifer Lawrence) faces grim and morbid circumstances as she searches for her meth-cooking father in the Ozarks. Though this drink was named for its perceived ability to wake the dead (it's strong!), we're not sure it could do much good in Ree's situation.
3/4 ounce dry gin
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
8 drops absinthe
3/4 ounce Lillet Blanc Brandied cherry, for garnish
Fill a stemmed glass with ice and let sit to chill. In a shaker, combine liquid ingredients and shake with ice until chilled. Discard ice from the stemmed glass, shaking out excess water. Strain the drink into the chilled glass. Garnish.
This breathtaking bridal shower btablescape was created by Amorology (one word: WOW!) There are so many gorgeous details that truly make this table absolutely perfect. I love how they used different components that define the path of true love; the subtle pairing of contrasting soft and strong elements like steel with cotton, burlap with soft white linens and driftwood with soft fresh flowers. I love the softness of the varying shades of pink magnolias and roses - it is incredibly sweet and romantic.
