T.G.I.F Flying Blue Dragon

If you are planning an Oscar's party this Sunday and are wondering what to serve how about this Flying Blue Dragon in honor of one of the Nominations for Best Picture, Avatar.

The blue-curaçao hue of the Na’vi people in Avatar may look a little frightening but after a few sips of this Avatar inspired cocktail, you will definitely have enough courage to travel by dragon.

What to buy: If you can’t find Velvet Falernum, a clove- and lime-infused liqueur, try making your own. We think this recipe on eGullet is a great stand-in.

INGREDIENTS

• Ice
• 1 ounce blue curaçao
• 1 ounce light rum
• 3/4 ounce Velvet Falernum
• 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 2 dashes Orange Bitters
• Orange twist, for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Fill a shaker halfway with ice and add all remaining ingredients except the orange twist. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with an orange twist if desired.
