Today's post is dedicated to my friend, Gina who is looking for some western themed ideas for her son's upcoming birthday party. The great thing about kid's is that you don't have to travel far for a great party...there is nothing like your own backyard for a fun shindig.
Bring in some hay bales for seating and cover your picnic tables in gingham. Wrap silverware in colorful bandanas and place them on a galvanized tray in mason jars. Straw cowboy hats are the perfect way to get kids in the mood and can also double as a favor.
Backyard cooking is kid food at it's best; fill a large bowl with sweet and salty snacks. Grill up some hot dogs, sausages and corn. You can even grill fruit on skewers. Don't forget the s'mores for dessert; also, a great activity for kids. Lemonade and punch served in an oversized drink dispensers make the table look oh so festive and can be used for plenty of parties after.
Play some good ole fashioned games like we did back in the day...Potato sack races, three-legged races, hot potato pass or a scavenger or obstacle course. Oh, I loved playing those games at my Dad's company picnic (remember that?!?). We had a pinata for Easter this year and the kid's went crazy!
Kid sized binoculars and frog & lizard tote are perfect for some backyard adventures. Giddy up!
I love this theme!

This western theme sounds awesome -- the hats and bandanas can be used as cheap wedding favors
