I don't know what it is about this time of year that makes me start thinking of green...I think it's because I am beginning to think about all of the St. Patty's day celebrations and the fact that it's almost Spring and everything (in California) is starting to get very green.  Green makes me feel hopeful like something anew awaits. How to Make Flavored Vodka

One of the easiest ways to flavor Vodka is to add your desired flavoring directly to the bottle then cap the bottle, and allow it to marinate in the freezer for a few days. The longer it marinates, the better the flavor.

Here are a few favorites:

• Lemon grass, 3 or 4 stalks
• Melon
• Strawberries
• Orange rind, 1/2 cup
• Raspberries or blackberries - 1 cup
• Tarragon; 4 or 5 stalks
• Star anise, 6 pods
• Grapefruit rind, 1/2 cup
• Lemon rind, 1/2 cup
• Chili peppers, 1 or 2 peppers (for a milder flavor, remove the seeds)
• Skittles (yes, you read that right...skittles candy)
